Walter Voigts-von Forster appointed CEO of Munich Re Africa Branch

Walter Voigts-von Forster has been promoted to CEO of Munich Re’s Africa Branch, a subsidiary of the German reinsurance group Munich Re, based in South Africa. He will succeed Nico Conradie, who is set to retire at the end of January 2026, after 23 years with the company, including ten years as CEO.

Subject to regulatory approval, the appointment will take effect on 1 February 2026.

Forster will report to Roland Eckl, CEO of Munich Re for Australasia, Greater China, and MENA.

Forster joined Munich Re Africa in 2007 and has held various leadership roles over the past 18 years.

In addition to his new role as CEO, he will continue to serve as Head of Non-Life, a position he has held since January 2023.
