The United States affected by most of the natural catastrophes claims in 2012

Nearly 90% of all claims pertaining to natural catastrophes have occurred in the United States. This is Impact Forecasting’ finding over the full year of 2012.

The study also confirms that the two most onerous natural events are hurricane Sandy and the lengthy drought which hit the United States. Both disasters account for almost 50% of the economic losses reported in 2012. Insured losses caused by Sandy are estimated at 28.2 billion USD for an economic loss of 65 billion USD.
