United Arab Emirates: New compensation funds for victims of road crashes

Emirati authorities are working on the amendment of the insurance code. The draft bill will provide for the establishment of a compensation fund for the benefit of the victims of drivers defaulting on insurance or drivers who have committed a hit-and-run offence.

The fund will be financed by the contribution withheld from each motor insurance policy. The automobile industry is likely to be pushed to contribute.
