Tunisia: road accidents on the rise in 2022

According to the National Road Safety Observatory (ONSR), Tunisian roads have recorded 5 484 accidents in 2022 against 5 089 in 2021, representing a 7.76% increase.

As at 31 December 2022, the number of fatalities was up 3.65% to a total of 1 051, while the number of injuries jumped from 6 894 in 2021 to 7 906 a year later.

Careless driving, speeding, and failure to follow right-of-way rules are the three leading causes of traffic accidents in 2022.
