Tsunami in Indonesia: The damage would reach one billion USD

According to the first estimates, the tsunami of 22 December 2018 that hit the provinces of Lampung and Banten could cost 15.9 billion IDR (1.09 billion USD) to insurers.

This first figure was given by the insurance companies PT Maskapai Reasuransi Indonesia (REI) and PT Asuransi Maipark Indonesia.

The tsunami claimed the lives of 440 people and destroyed thousands of houses, buildings and infrastructure.
