Tesla to launch a motor insurance product

The electric car manufacturerer Tesla is launching its own motor insurance cover in partnership with the American insurer State National Insurance Company.

For now, Tesla is acting as a broker. However, it confirmed its intention to obtain the status of a full-fledged insurer later on.

Designed for Tesla customers in California, the offer grants a premium discount of up to 30% for certain models: Model S, Model X, Model 3.

It is thanks to the safety devices and advanced assistance services available on these vehicles that such discounts are made possible by the manufacturer. Given the high cost of repairs, Tesla vehicles are among the most expensive to insure.
