Technical committee on marine transportation in Nigeria

The Nigerian Shippers' Council (NSC) and the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM) are setting up a technical committee dedicated to marine insurance.

The initiative aims at reducing the costs of shipping and the risks arising from container demurrage^* and detention in Nigeria.

The committee is expected to complete its work and submit its report within two months.

* Compensation by the shipper to the shipowner for any delays in loading and unloading.
