Strengthening the legislative framework

Qatari authorities have announced a future strengthening of the legislative framework. New laws designed to combat money laundering and the financing of terrorism will soon be imposed. These amendments are the result of consultations that began in September 2012 with representatives of insurance companies.
The aim is to ensure that local laws are consistent with international standards in force in the insurance and banking sectors. The entry into force of the new provisions started on February 1, 2013 and shall continue to July 1, 2013.
