SCOR sets up a satellite-based agricultural insurance tool

SCOR, Essor, Agrobrasil and IRB Brasil have signed a partnership agreement with Airbus Defence and Space, an expert in military aircraft, drones, missiles, space launchers and artificial satellites.

The agreement deals with the establishment of a new pasture insurance tool called "Pastagem Protegida - Índice".

The tool combines an advanced remote sensing technology with meteorological data to regularly monitor production areas.

"Pastagem Protegida - Índice" provides a reliable estimate of production losses caused by temperature changes such as drought.

The solution is aimed at all livestock farmers and provides covers production losses caused by weather conditions.

It also allows farmers to increase their production per hectare without using additional land for pasture.
