Santam Insurance secures Lloyd's approval to create Syndicate 1918

Santam Insurance has received final approval from Lloyd’s of London to launch Syndicate 1918.

Operations are scheduled to begin on 1 January 2026, with first-year turnover expected to exceed 300 million GBP (2.3 million USD).

Syndicate 1918 will underwrite a diversified portfolio of risks, including property damage, marine, energy, political violence and terrorism, financial institutions, professional liability, and cyber insurance.

The management team for Syndicate 1918 is made up of:

• Rob Vetch, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
• Simon Clapham, Chief Underwriting Officer (CUO)
• Richard Weston, Chief Actuary and Chief Risk Officer (CRO)
• Carla Jordan, Chief Engagement and Portfolio Officer
