Sanlam finalizes the acquisition of Lion Assurance Company

The Insurance Regulatory Authority of Uganda (IRA-U) has authorized the purchase of Lion Assurance Company (LAC) by Sanlam General Insurance Uganda (SGIU), a Ugandan subsidiary of the South African insurer Sanlam.

The 6.5 million-USD transaction has been pending approval since September 2017. The Ugandan insurer LAC will now be renamed SGIU.
