The association of life-insurance companies has estimated the cost of insurance fraud for the sole 2005 at 347 million ZAR (56.01 million USD), that is, a 40% increase compared to 2004. According to the report, 30% of the fraud amount is accounted for by Johannesburg and only 10% by Cape Town.
