Qatar Re joins Dubai International Financial Center

Qatar Re obtained license on November 22, 2015 enabling it to perform insurance and reinsurance operations from Dubai International Financial Center. As of mid-December, Qatar Re has been underwriting both treaties and facultative reinsurance in marine, aviation, fire, engineering, energy, third party liability and accident classes of business. Its subsidiary covering the Middle East, Africa and Asia, is managed by Nabih Massaad, shouldered with a team of nine staff members, mostly underwriters. In addition to this new office, Qatar Re has also inaugurated a new base in Doha where operations of accounting support, loss management and actuarial services are based.
