Qatar Re granted UK regulatory authorization

The UK supervisory authority has granted approval to Qatar Reinsurance Company (Qatar Re) to underwrite business on the local market.

The agreement comes just a few days after the acquisition of three insurance companies belonging to Britain's Markerstudy group by Qatar Re.

Michael van der Straaten will run the Anglo-Saxon business of the Qatari insurer.
