New Malaysian insurer in the Cambodian market

The Ministry of Economics and Finances of Cambodia has granted two licenses to Etiqa Insurance & Takaful.

The new companies, subsidiaries of the malaysian bank Malayan Banking (Maybank), will be operating through two separate units: Etiqa General Insurance for non-life insurance and Etiqa Life Insurance for life insurance.

The new companies will be distributing their life and non-life (fire, personal accident) products through Maybank's 21 subsidiaries in Cambodia. Etiqa General Insurance also plans to extend its coverage to the motor, travel and property damage classes of business.

After Campu Lonpac Insurance, Etiqa is the second Malaysian insurer to be established in Cambodia.
