Natural disaster insured losses for the first nine months of 2025

catastrophes naturellesAccording to a report published by broker Aon, insured losses from natural catastrophes during the first three quarters of 2025 totaled 114 billion USD.

Nearly 90% of this amount, or 101 billion USD, was attributed to damage in the United States. The Los Angeles wildfire at the beginning of the year was the costliest event of the period, generating insured losses of 40 billion USD. In total, 22 events in the U.S. each resulted in losses exceeding 1 billion USD.

Outside the U.S., the earthquake in Myanmar and severe storms in Europe also surpassed the 1 billion USD threshold.

As of 30 September 2025, total economic losses from natural disasters were estimated at 203 billion USD.
