Munich Re is investing in wind turbine insurance

After announcing its involvement in the Desertec project (installation of wind turbines and solar panels in the Sahara), Munich Re has embarked on the insurance of wind turbine manufacturers. The German reinsurer has become a pioneer in this area after leading the way in solar panels, two rapidly developing technologies. The company, therefore, started a partnership with Fuhrländer by insuring the covers offered to its customers. This is likely to allow the industry to focus on its business and to be better rated by the credit institutes.
