Merger between two Lebanese insurance companies

On 27 July 2021, the Insurance Control Commission (ICC) approved the merger between the two Lebanese insurance companies LIA Insurance and Assurex Insurance and Reinsurance. The merged entity will operate under the name LIA Assurex.

The South African insurer Sanlam owns 70% of LIA Assurex while Saradar Insurance Holding detains the remaining 30%.
