Mandatory health insurance for Qatar visitors to take effect on 1 February 2023

The Qatari government is implementing the first phase of the mandatory health insurance scheme. As of 1 February 2023, foreigners visiting Qatar must underwrite a health insurance policy with a company licensed by the Ministry of Public Health.

The policy only covers emergency and accident cases, with a premium of 50 QAR (13.64 USD) per month. The policyholder can also underwrite coverage for additional services, the prices of which vary depending on the rates proposed by insurance companies.

For international health insurance policyholders, the policy must include Qatar, be valid during the stay and be issued by one of the licensed insurers in the country.
