Mandatory health insurance for foreign expats in Qatar

The Qatari government issued new legislation on 19 October 2021 making it mandatory for expatriates and employees in the public and private sectors to be covered by health insurance.

Employers are required to provide basic health coverage to non-Qatari workers through insurance companies.

The new law will come into force six months after its publication in the official gazette.
