French mutual insurance group Macif has announced the launch of M Réassurance, a new reinsurance company registered in Luxembourg.
The newly established structure, which is now operational, will provide Macif with additional protection against various risks, including those linked to climate change.
This move comes at a time when climate-related claims are on the rise, major reinsurers are scaling back their coverage, and market conditions are becoming increasingly challenging.
In response to the growing frequency of natural disasters, prominent reinsurers such as Hannover Re, Swiss Re, Scor, and Munich Re have either increased their rates or narrowed the scope of their coverage.
M Réassurance thus becomes a critical strategic tool for enhancing Macif's resilience and safeguarding the strength of its business model.
