Life insurance contracts taxation

The Moroccan government is considering the possibility of introducing a tax on life insurance. A member wishing to redeem their life insurance and terminate their contract would be subject to a 30% tax, calculated on the surrender value.

The industry professionals are against this initiative which, according to them, would not encourage savings. Its application would also result in a decline in premium income.
