La Bâloise Holding acquires Fidea NV

The Swiss reinsurer la Bâloise repurchases Fidea NV, a subsidiary of the Chinese group Anbang Insurance for 480 million EUR (542 million USD).

This operation allows Anbang to consolidate its balance sheet. Meanwhile, La Bâloise shall strengthen its position in the Belgian market notably with shares reaching 8.5% in the life activity and 4.2% in the non-life business.

After this acquisition, the number of employees of the Swiss insurer in Belgium shall reach 1 600.
