The Japanese are learning from past catastrophes

Earthquake insurance on the rise. The year 2008 has witnessed numerous earthquakes. As a consequence, the number of policies covering such catastrophes has reached its highest record for the 6^thconsecutive year. In comparison with last year, the number of fire policies covering earthquakes has soared by 45% for owners of real estate. In Japan, the earthquake guarantee is sold along with fire policy and extends to volcanic eruptions and tsunamis.
