The insured cost of the January riots estimated at 6.8 million USD

According to Amara Latrous, chairman of the Union des Assureurs et Réassureurs Algériens (UAR) and of the SAA , the January 2011 riots , have cost Algerian insurers, 6.8 million USD. Most of the damages was sustained by traders and companies. Riot covers are limited to 25% or even 50% of the sums insured in property insurance policies.
