December 14, 2016

On December 7, 2016 Indonesia was hit by a strong earthquake of 6.5 magnitude. The earthquake occurred in Sumatra at 5 am (local time), killing nearly 100 people, injuring more than 600 others and destroying several buildings.

According to AIR Worldwide's initial estimates, insured losses would be minimal compared to economic losses. This is mainly due to the low level of insurance penetration in the region.
