Important expansion of the insurance market

Despite the economic hardships endured by Tanzania during the recent two years, the market insurance is performing very well. According to the government, a reinsurer (Tan Re) and 26 insurers are registered by June 30, 2011. Twenty-one of them are operating in non-life insurance, two in life insurance and three in both of them. Over the first nine months of 2011, the sector’s gross premiums have grown by 20%.
