Implementation of mandatory health insurance

The mandatory health insurance scheme (Dhamani) will be implemented starting in 2023. The program, which will be gradually rolled out, covers private sector employees, their dependents, tourists and foreign visitors.

Health insurance is one of the fastest growing classes of business in terms of premiums. In 2021, health premiums increased by 5.6% to reach 164 million OMR (424.696 million USD).
