Hurricane Ida hits the United States hard

On 29 August 2021, sixteen years after the devastating Katrina, New Orleans, Louisiana’s main city was heavily affected by Hurricane Ida. Due to the winds that reached 240 km/h, the hurricane led to the death of two people.

According to the National Hurricane Center (NHC), classified the hurricane as a Category 4 on the 5-level Saffir-Simpson scale. The disaster is considered the most violent recorded in the state since 2005 (Hurricane Katrina).

According to the first estimates, Ida could cause damages between 15 and 20 billion USD.
