Henan province floods, the most expensive disaster for Chinese insurers

According to the broker Aon, the economic losses caused by the floods in Henan province in July 2021 have reached 19 billion USD.

Insurance companies have received 552 000 claims for a total amount of 1.9 billion USD. This was the most costly natural catastrophe ever recorded by Chinese insurers.

Still according to Aon, the floods that occurred in China between 1 June and 30 September 2021 ranked among the ten most expensive claims of 2021. The total economic damage for all these events reached 30 billion USD of which 2.1 billion USD were insured.
