Health insurance fraud in China: stricter penalties

The Chinese government has introduced new regulations regarding health insurance fraud.

Effective 1 May 2021, the new law increases the penalties regarding fraud committed against health insurance.

Fraudulent acts may be subject to a 3 to 12 months suspension of compensation by the fund.

A penalty of five times the amount of fraud could also be imposed.
