GAIF proposes establishing natural disaster insurance pools in the MENA region

The General Arab Insurance Federation (GAIF) has proposed the creation of regional insurance pools to help address major risks, particularly natural disasters, across the MENA region. The organization also highlighted the importance of developing parametric insurance solutions tailored to the region’s specific risk landscape.

The proposal was presented during a GAIF-organized webinar held on 17 September 2025, under the theme “Insurance in the MENA Region by 2030.”

During the session, participants also underscored the need to harmonize regulatory frameworks across Arab insurance markets.
