Discovery is about to acquire Standard Life Health

Discovery, South Africa's most important life insurer is going to disburse 211 million USD to purchase the British group Standard Life Health, Great Britain's fourth health insurer. In mid-December, Discovery voiced its interest in an acquisition outside South Africa and in a shareholding in the Chinese insurer Ping An Health. Discovery is facing fierce competition on its national market with Metropolitan and Momentum having already announced their merger.
