Covid-19: Claims on the rise for Hollywood movie studios

The insurer Allianz is bracing itself for a significant increase in the number of claims for movie and television studios that have been heavily affected by the pandemic.

Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty (AGCS), the Allianz Group's industrial risk insurer, has set aside 488 million EUR (575 million USD) for Covid-19-related claims. Most of this sum is intended for the entertainment industry.

To protect themselves against commercial losses in the event of a future pandemic, some insurers, including Allianz, have stopped covering losses related to Covid-19 in their film production policies.
