Cost of the #EndSARS protests

The #EndSARS protests, which started in October 2020 in Nigeria, have resulted in economic losses amounting to 200 billion NGN (486.4 million USD).

Nigerian insurers have paid 9 billion NGN (21.89 million USD) for the damages caused by the protests. According to the Nigerian Insurance Association (NIA), the cost of insured losses could reach 20 billion NGN (48.64 million USD).

The reported losses concern cases of vandalism, looting, theft, business interruption, burglary and fire.
