Compulsory health insurance in Qatar

The Qatari government imposes a compulsory health insurance on expatriates and visitors. The new law stipulates that health care services in Qatar's public and private facilities shall only be provided upon the presentation of an insurance certificate by all non-nationals.

This initiative follows the introduction of a compulsory health insurance in the UAE and Kuwait in 2020.

In 2015, Qatar had already adopted a compulsory insurance scheme for foreigners, which was abolished a year later.
