Compulsory health insurance to generate 188 million USD of premiums

The Bahrain Insurance Association expects the compulsory health coverage for expats and foreign visitors in Bahrain to generate 71 million BHD (188 million USD) in premiums.

The new scheme is set to be implemented before the end of 2023. Preparatory work is at its final stage and some regulatory procedures are being finalized with local insurance companies.

The coverages available under the compulsory health insurance plan include primary health care, hospital accommodation, accidental bodily injury, emergency services and chronic disease treatments.
