Change in shareholding of foreign insurance companies located in the Emirates

Foreign companies are now allowed to hold 49% of the capital of local insurance companies against 25% previously. This relaxation initiated by the Insurance Authority (IA) is mainly aimed at consolidating the national economy and strengthening the financial base of insurance companies.

There are currently 61 insurance companies on the Emirati market, including 22 foreign companies.
