Brookfield Reinsurance to acquire American Equity Investment Life Holding Company

Brookfield Reinsurance, the reinsurance division of the Canadian Brookfield Asset Management group, has signed a definitive merger agreement with American Equity Investment Life Holding Company (AEL).

Under the terms of this deal, Brookfield Reinsurance will acquire all of AEL's common shares for 4.3 billion USD.

Pending approval by the relevant authorities and AEL's shareholders, the transaction is expected to be finalized during the first half of 2024.
