Bermuda reinsurance market in 2021

According to a report by Fitch Ratings, the eight Bermuda-based reinsurers have recorded an 18.1% increase in their net written premiums during the first nine months of 2021.

This improvement was driven by higher reinsurance rates and increased property and casualty and specialty risks underwritings.

The reinsurers included in this study were: Arch Capital Group, Argo Group International Holdings, Aspen Insurance Holdings, AXIS Capital Holdings, Everest Re Group, PartnerRe, Renaissance Re Holdings (RenRe) and SiriusPoint.

During the period under review, RenRe had the highest premium growth with 44%. It was followed by Everest Re and Arch with increases of 26% and 23% respectively.
