Awareness day on agricultural insurance in Tunisia

In partnership with the Tunisian broker Pro-Assurance, the Tunisian Union of Agriculture and Fisheries (UTAP) held an awareness day on 13 November 2025, supported by the Ministry of Agriculture, on the theme: “Agricultural insurance: a pillar of national food security.”

Discussions focused on the sector’s shortcomings and the growing risks facing the profession, including climate change, technological developments, and economic uncertainty.

To help close these gaps, authorities are currently examining the creation of a comprehensive insurance framework for the agricultural sector.

Currently, the Compensation Fund for Agricultural Damage Caused by Natural Disasters (Fidac) provides coverage only for losses linked to natural catastrophes, and only up to 60%.
