Agricultural insurance policy for small Sri Lankan farmers

On 1 July 2019, broker Aon and Oxfam, an anti-poverty organization associated with the insurtech startup Etherisc, provided small farmers in Sri Lanka with an underwriting platform based on blockchain technology.

Nearly 200 farmers have enrolled in this solution which offers microinsurance to small holders of paddy fields.

This new policy compensates farmers for crop losses caused by extreme weather conditions.
