This 29th edition will take place at the Rainbow Towers Hotel and International Conference Center in Harare, Zimbabwe, under the theme:“Growth for the African Reinsurance Industry: Navigating Global Volatility and Growing Risk Complexity.”
The conference is structured around seven sessions covering current topics such as:
- Global reinsurance trends,
- Geopolitical risks and their implications for insurers and reinsurers,
- Financial upheavals: sanctions and customs tariffs,
- Regulatory and compliance issues.
Founded in 1972, the AIO is a non-governmental organization dedicated to promoting the development of insurance and reinsurance across Africa.
The AIO currently has 421 members, comprising companies and institutions from 47 African countries and 13 countries outside the continent (1).
Nigeria has the largest number of members (65), followed by Ghana (38), Kenya (23), and Zimbabwe (22).
The membership breakdown by profession or type of activity includes 255 insurers, 67 brokers, 47 reinsurers, and 23 regulatory bodies (1).

African Reinsurance Forum
The AIO Reinsurance Forum is a platform for sharing expertise aimed at facilitating reinsurance operations and promoting technical and regulatory cooperation between countries on the continent.
Along with the General Assembly, it is the second major event in the organization's annual calendar. These two major gatherings, whose first meetings date back to 1972 and 1995 respectively, are complemented by a series of seminars and workshops organized throughout the year.
