19.1% growth of underwritten premiums in Beijing in 2009

Eighty four insurance companies, in total, are operating in Beijing. The amount of the underwritten premiums has risen by 19.1% reaching 69.8 billion CNY (10.2 billion USD) in 2009. This two-digit growth is occurring for the fourth consecutive year. These excellent results are partially accounted for by the policy designed by the authorities to encourage car sales.
