The Zambian authorities intend to revise the insurance legislation with a view to reducing the volume of reinsurance premiums ceded abroad.
From 2009 to 2015, local insurance companies placed nearly 1.5 billion USD of their premiums with foreign reinsurers.
The new regulations should ensure a higher premium volume for local reinsurers.
