Thailand, the insurance hub for the ASEAN region

The World Bank and Japan are keen on promoting Thailand as the insurance center of the ASEAN region. This move would prompt the development of this industry in neighboring countries, especially in Laos, Vietnam and Cambodia. The ultimate goal behind this initiative is to align all these countries on a joint legislative system of insurance. The World Bank’s intention is to combine its efforts with the ten countries in the ASEAN region in order to achieve the economic integration expected in 2015.
