Suez Canal blockade: SCA reduces its demands

The Suez Canal Authority (SCA) has reduced the cost compensation related to the Ever Given blockade across the Suez Canal from 23 to 29 March 2021.

The SCA has thus reduced the amount of its claim for compensation from the Japanese company owning the container ship from 916 million USD to 550 million USD.

This decision follows the information disclosed by Evergreen Marine Corporation stating that the cost of the goods transported was set at 750 million USD against 3 billion USD previously estimated.
