A strong earthquake hits Central Italy

An earthquake of magnitude 6.2 has devastated the city of Amatrice, located in Umbria, in the centre of Italy at 150 km northeast of the Italian capital.

The tremor was felt as far as Rome. Occurred on the night of Tuesday to Wednesday, August 24, 2016, the first toll of this quake reported 21 victims and substantial property damages.
