Premiums will be directly paid to insurers

As of January 1, 2012, policyholders who underwrite risks through brokers will pay their premiums directly to insurers. This resolution is the result of a survey which demonstrated that the sums retained by brokers stand as an impediment for the development of insurance. In Uganda, the insurance penetration rate is of 0.6%, the lowest in the region (2.6% in Kenya, 1% in Tanzania and Rwanda).
