Motorcycle taxi insurance prices on the rise in Rwanda

Nearly 70% of motor claims in Rwanda are caused by motorcycle taxis. As a result, insurance companies are facing major losses due to accidents caused by this type of vehicle.

To remedy this situation, some insurers refuse to insure motorcycle taxis while others have decided to increase insurance rates.

As a result of the sharp increase in premiums, the Rwandan government is calling on insurers to display moderation and to reduce premiums.
